general information

Always be pleasant, polite and respectful to people; you will gain their respect in return; and make them more appreciating of seasonal workers.

Always carry some form of identification for cases of emergency.

Always tell friends where you are going and when you will be returning.

Use proper public or work provided toilets, do not use hedge-rows or any public places as toilets; this can lead to prosecution and loss of your job.

Never shop-lift; 95% of seasonal workers who try to steal from shops are caught. In the UK there are СCTV cameras in all major supermarkets and most local shops. If you are caught you are likely to be summoned to a magistrate’s court, lose your job for bringing the company in to disrepute, and you may be deported back to your own country.

The drinking of alcohol or dropping of litter in public places is against the law in the UK. Should you be caught it will be considered as bringing the name of the company into disrepute and you may be dismissed.

Carrying weapons of any type is against the law and if caught, you will be arrested and if convicted, may result in a jail sentence.

Possessing, using or selling recreational or other types of drugs may result in a jail sentence or deportation.

Cars in the UK must by law have a current MOT test certificate, be taxed and insured and you must have a valid International/E.U Driving Licence.

All of our farms are in the countryside where roadways are narrow. In the UK we drive on the LEFT hand side of the road and it is advisable in normal circumstances to walk facing the traffic so you can see the traffic coming and if necessary you can take evasive action to avoid accidents.

Many migrant workers take to hitching lifts from passing cars rather than using public transport to go to nearby towns. Although hitch hiking can be harmless it does have its dangers and can be a nuisance to some drivers. (Always better to use public transport such as buses and taxis).
